Love on Haight Brings a Little Haight-Ashbury Magic to PIER 39
What. A. Weekend.
We officially celebrated the Grand Opening of Love on Haight at PIER 39 during PIER 39's Summer of Love Weekend, and we could not have asked for a more colorful, musical, wonderfully San Francisco way to celebrate our new Tie Dye Outpost by the Bay. Hours & directions →
There was tie dye.
There was music.
There was dancing.
There was a psychedelic fashion show.
There was a second line through PIER 39.
And there was A LOT of LOVE.
A Psychedelic Tie Dye Fashion Show at PIER 39
Saturday was all about FASHION.
We brought some of our favorite looks from Love on Haight out onto the runway for our Psychedelic Tie Dye Fashion Show, and we LOVED seeing everything come to life.
Bell bottoms, dresses, coats, one-of-a-kind tie dye, wild accessories and wearable art all made their way down the runway — worn by an amazing group of magical creatures of different ages, styles, shapes and sizes.
Because that's what fashion at Love on Haight has always been about.
Wear what makes you happy.
We don't believe there is a right age, size, gender or personality for tie dye. If you put something on and suddenly feel a little more fabulous, a little more colorful and a little more YOU...
That's the outfit.
And seeing all of those looks walking through PIER 39 was pretty freaking magical.
Music All Weekend Long
Of course, you can't have a Love on Haight party without MUSIC.
Bands and musicians kept the celebration going throughout the weekend, filling PIER 39 with music, dancing and that unmistakable San Francisco energy.
It felt like exactly what we wanted this Grand Opening to be — not just opening another retail store, but creating a little piece of the Haight-Ashbury experience down by the Bay.
And then came Sunday...
All You Need Is LOVE
Sunday gave us one of those moments we're going to remember for a very long time.
MJ's Brass Boppers led a second line through PIER 39 all the way to Love on Haight.
People followed the music through the PIER, dancing and celebrating as the band made its way toward our new shop.
And what did they play?
“All You Need Is Love.”
Seriously.
Could there possibly have been a more perfect song?
A brass band leading a dancing second line through one of San Francisco's most famous destinations, ending at a rainbow tie dye shop called LOVE ON HAIGHT, while playing All You Need Is Love.
Sometimes San Francisco just gets it right.
From Haight Street to the Bay
Love on Haight will ALWAYS belong to the Haight-Ashbury.
Our flagship at 1400 Haight Street sits on a corner that has been selling tie dye since 1992, and the history, artists, music and counterculture of the Haight are woven into everything we do. Read our history →
But now we get to bring a little piece of that world somewhere new.
Our Love on Haight Tie Dye Outpost at PIER 39 is our colorful little ambassador by the Bay — filled with tie dye, wearable art, Grateful Dead goodies and a whole lot of Haight-Ashbury LOVE.
And after this weekend?
It officially feels like home.
Thank You, San Francisco
Thank you to PIER 39, every musician who played, every fabulous human who walked in our fashion show, everyone who danced in our second line, our incredible Team Love, and every person who came out to celebrate with us.
Opening a second Love on Haight was a BIG adventure.
Getting to celebrate it like THIS was beyond anything we could have imagined.
If you missed the party, don't worry — the rainbows aren't going anywhere.
Come visit the original Love on Haight at 1400 Haight Street in San Francisco's historic Haight-Ashbury, or come find our new Tie Dye Outpost at PIER 39, right by the historic carousel.
Two stores.
One very colorful San Francisco family.
And after this weekend, we think the Brass Boppers pretty much summed it up...
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. 🌈💛⚡️
